PAINTLESS DENT REMOVAL

Paintless Dent Removal (PDR) is the preferred method in fixing automotive dents, dings, and hail damage. This process reforms the vehicle’s metal back to it’s original condition without affecting its factory paint finish; retaining appearance and resale value.

Our highly skilled PDR technicians work from behind panels with specialized tools designed to massage metal back to its original condition. We also use a method called “glue pulling” when dents are not accessible from behind panels.

There are no sanders, fillers, primers, or paint involved, because your original factory paint is not disturbed. This makes this process 100% environmentally friendly and a green alternative compared to a repair done at a typical auto body repair shop.

What is the difference between a Ding and a Dent?

At Without a Trace Paintless Dent Removal, most commonly we refer to a ding in the terms of a “door ding”, which occurs when a vehicle parks too close to another and accidentally flings their door open. It is usually less than dime size in diameter and less noticeable at first glance, but leaves a cosmetic mark. The more dings a vehicle has, the more blemished it becomes.

Although dings do not affect how one’s vehicle performs, or lower it’s safety rating, they do lower the resale value. Fixing these imperfections is especially important for customers who are currently leasing, planning on trading in, or simply like to keep their vehicle in prestige condition. As long as there is no paint damage these types of repairs are ideal using the PDR method.

A dent on the other hand is bigger and can range from dime size up to a few inches. Dents can be caused by backing up into something, closing garage doors, shopping carts, falling tree branches, vehicle accidents, and other miscellaneous occurrences not listed. Dents require more extensive metal work, PDR skills, and time. They can cost twice as much upon turning in or selling a vehicle before getting them professionally fixed. They can also require entire panels to be replaced depending on how extensive the damage is, if there is paint damage, or the size.

Paint Protection Film

Paint Protection Film (PPF) is designed to protect your vehicle against road elements such as rocks, bug spatter, and minor abrasions.

When applied, the transparent film is virtually invisible from the original finish. The tough, durable polyurethane film offers exceptional conformability around contours and is an excellent choice for retaining the new car look that owners desire.

client Questions

What is the difference between Paint Protection Film and Ceramic Coating?

Ceramic coating is a liquid polymer product, while PPF is a thermoplastic urethane self healing material. Ceramic coatings are installed by applying liquid formula onto an application sponge, spreading it on the paint surface, waiting for it to dry, and then buffing it out. Clear Bra is installed by spraying liquid solution on film, placing it on an exterior body panel, then using squeegee techniques to ensure the film conforms in the right place. We recommended having Clear Bra installed by a certified installer to ensure the film is installed correctly and does not leave bubbles or creases behind.

After I ceramic coat my vehicle should I wrap it with Paint Protection Film or is ceramic coating enough?

Generally, we recommend applying ceramic coatings after PPF installation. If the ceramic coating is applied first it will prevent the PPF from sticking to the paint, and therefore now requires the coating be removed before film can be applied. Ceramic coatings are generally used to prevent staining and light scratches. Paint protection film will do the same and also helps with paint chip prevention due to impact capabilities. Ceramic coating can be applied to the top of PPF, but the film itself may lose it’s self healing properties due to the ceramic coating hardening on the surface.

Can Paint Protection Film be washed, waxed, buffed as normal? Or is there a specific process to wash it?

PPF can be washed like normal, but it isn’t necessary to buff it. Surface scratches will self heal. You can keep it conditioned with a simple spray wax.

Wrap it or Paint it?

Customers often ask if they should wrap or paint their car. We advise they consider two major factors when making that decision: price and time.

A typical paint job ranges from $3,000-$20,000+ depending on quality and the body shops paint procedure process. A full quality vehicle wrap usually costs between $3,500-$6,000+ depending on the the material the wrap shop uses and difficulty of the requested project.

When painting a vehicle most bodyshops will suggest a minimum of 30 days for “cure time”. This ensures that the vehicle’s paint has set and fully hardened. During this time the owner cannot wash, wax, apply sealant, or any other protective coating. There is also a possibility of paint chips or scraps if the paint is not fully dry when taken on the road. Whereas, with Vinyl wrap it can be professionally installed within 2 to 3 days and the set time is only about 12 hours. After that, the vehicle can be driven with no worries.
